The surge in COVID Omicron variant is widespread and affecting all aspects of daily life including at Boys & Girls Clubs. As we continue to navigate through this evolving pandemic, ensuring the health and safety of your children and our staff is our most critical priority. As such, we want to share updated guidelines with you.
We ask all parents/guardians to be sure your child(ren) can pass a daily wellness screening before attending the Club. As a secondary measure, a temp check will be performed on all youth and teens entering the Club. Any child with a temperature above 100 degrees will not be allowed to participate and their parent/guardian will be notified.
A mask worn properly (tightly covering nose and mouth), is required throughout our facilities and transportation. N95, KN95, and KF94s are recommended by the CDC. Cloth masks are no longer recommended. Members and staff will double-mask when in the van and drivers will keep windows open to allow for increased airflow.
Vaccines are required for all Boys & Girls Club staff and volunteers. We strongly encourage you and your child(ren) to get vaccinated for the safety of all in our Boys & Girls Club community. For more information on vaccinations, click here: Vaccination Sites | Covid-19 (maine.gov)
If your child tests positive for COVID, please let your Club Director know as soon as possible (contact information is below). Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine will follow the same quarantine procedure as the school your child attends. In addition, all siblings or members that live in the same home of a positive case will not be allowed to attend the Club for the same period.
BGCSM will no longer be notifying families of possible close contact situations. During this time of increased transmission, all community members should presume potential exposure in the greater community and act accordingly.
Please be sure to share updated contact information with your Club’s director so you will receive information in a timely manner.
Our goal is to keep our Clubhouses open and safe. However, we may need to close our Clubs or alter operations should caseloads or staffing needs warrant. We will communicate this information to you as quickly as possible and apologize in advance for any inconvenience such a closure may cause.
Thank you for being part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine! We appreciate your continued support as we work through these challenging times.
Sincerely,
Karen MacDonald, COO
